Moments of Happiness
2017 was a hard year for a lot of people. I personally was getting tired and depressed all the time. Checking the news became a weird involuntary action to see what new awful thing had been done. Social media felt more and more like a place to just get angry. I desperately needed something, something that was just my own: unique, fun and capable of taking my mind off the state of the world. And I fell into photography.
I am not a professional by any means, but for the first time in my life, I have a creative drive to try something new and come up with fun ideas. I started doing the occasional photo shoot with my friends and loved ones, and two things clicked for me:
One, I love taking portraits of my friends, being able to capture their unique expressions, passions and drives and their willingness to go along with whatever idea I might have.
And two every time I would finish a set of photos I would just be so happy and proud. Happy for my friends who looked so beautiful and I could share with the word, and happy with myself.
Every photo shoot I do I now consider "a moment of happiness". That's what this hobby has become for me. No striving for recognition, just an opportunity to get better at taking photos and having fun.
My friends are beautiful and I want to share them with the world.
